Carving

Carving -- promethean gift from the Editing Gods, magically powerful, and safe if wisely used ...?

Or a really quick way to wreck your maps -- ?

Yes, No, Maybe .... my research shows that carving works okay for simple brushes ... but carving complex objects often causes problems:

  • illegal brushes
  • too-complex brushes (not illegal, but render slowly or badly)
  • leaks in the map

For what it's worth: I don't use carving -- only Vertex Manipulation gives me the control over brushes that I need to get the results that I want.
